Northshore Education Consortium is an Educational Collaborative. Northshore Academy is a small, therapeutic day school for approximately 40 children, grades K-6, with significant social-emotional-behavioral and learning challenges.
```Position Summary```
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Paraprofessional to join our team. As a Special Education Paraprofessional, you will work closely with students who have special needs, providing support and assistance in the classroom. Your role will be crucial in helping these students reach their full potential and achieve academic success.
```Responsibilities```
- Collaborate with the special education teacher to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students
- Assist students with daily tasks, including personal hygiene, eating, and transitioning between activities
- Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to reinforce concepts taught by the teacher
- Support students in developing social skills and promoting positive behavior
- Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet the unique needs of each student
- Monitor student progress and document observations for progress reports
- Assist with classroom management, including maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and any concerns

To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications:
- Experience working with children, preferably in a special education setting
- Knowledge of childhood development and special education principles
- Familiarity with literacy education and curriculum development
- Proficiency in math concepts and instructional strategies
- Strong classroom management skills to create an engaging learning environment
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and other staff members
